In 1989 we installed a 444-phone system at the new Supermax correctional facility in California before it opened.   At the same time  the movie "Taking Care of Business" , with Jim Belushi and Charles Grodin, was filming on location in the prison. It was difficult to tell the actual cinderblocks from the phony ones. And it was difficult to keep our minds on the installation with all of that "lights, camera, action" .  The system worked fine and, "that's a wrap," as they say in the movie business.

Did you know that the Model 100 System, in addition  to being in hundreds of institutions coast to coast, and in Canada, has also been in TV shows? It has, and every time a caller asks for "a few pairs of handsets, and they don't have to work" we know that the Mmodel 100 is going to be a star again. Of course I always explain that "they all work". So next time there's a visiting-room scene in a TV show, look for ouor "Model", the Model 100, starring in a visiting-room near you.

In 1974 a newspaper article in the New York Times reported on the anguish that visitors and inmates suffered in the Tombs  Prison in New York City.  It described the mal-functioning sound-powered telephones that sounded faint, at best. And they were metal and could be used as weapons. As a young engineer I volunteered to design a simple, but efficient and secure inmate-visitor telephone system for New York City. My offer was accepted and a row of 17 new Model 100 booths was installed in the jail. I am told that the inmates fought over those booths...and the rest is history, the Model 100 was born. Since then Federal, state and local institutions have installed our Model 100, with superb results. Clean, crisp communications, security, and a much less stressful  visiting area.
